Our seventh week began with a beautiful assembly conducted by the student council members marking the 'Teacher's Day'. It was inundating to see how students planned and surprised all of us.
We had our guided reading session on Thursday instead of Friday as it has been declared as a non-school day. Students read their books in groups and summarized their understanding by writing it in the notebooks. The books have been issued to them for reading the same with the parents over the long weekend.
For their writing sessions, students were guided to observe a picture prompt and create a story. They used their imaginations and wrote wonderful stories. Also, they continue to write in their writing journals/ diaries everyday to reflect on their day-to-day lives. The students are also encouraged to reflect on their food journals as a part of their learning for the current unit of inquiry.
Also, while inquiring into the concept of growth mindset, students discussed three questions with their chosen buddies. The responses to which were shared with a larger group and there was a lot of exchange of ideas and opinions.
During the library lesson this week, students were taken to the book fair organized by the school in collaboration with Scholastic books. They were provided with an opportunity to browse the range of books and make a wish list to buy the next day.
Students were engaged to learn some art techniques of drawing, painting and braiding during the Fun Zone/ student-led sessions this Wednesday.
For the Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) session, Ms. Latha read a book aloud titled 'The Heart and the Bottle' by Oliver Jeffers. It is a beautiful book which sends a message about how people cope with the feeling of 'Grief'. The students were also asked questions related to the same and were guided to reflect. They also had a gesture activity where they had to use their facial expressions or body language to express or display different feelings.
During the Hindi sessions, students have been preparing for the upcoming Hindi Divas assembly. They took action and made posters on their current unit of inquiry focussing on the transdisciplinary theme- 'Who we are' and the Sustainable Development Goal 'Good health and well-being'.

Enjoy the long weekend!
