It has been an exhilarating start to begin the journey in Grade 3. There was a lot of laughter, fun, learning, and excitement while building rapport and learning to understand one another.

Students suggested that we play the 'Passing the pillow' game along with some music. Once the music stopped, the students introduced themselves and took turns.
'The floor is lava' seemed like their favourite song when they grooved on it. They ran and jumped around to save themselves from the pretend lava.
Observing the nature around them and visiting the different spaces on a school tour was so much fun.
'Scavenger Hunt'- Students had to guess the clues given. They were about the different spaces of the school. We visited the Athletics centre, Art, and Music rooms, Library, Amphi Theatre, Senior School, and the Academy Building.

Students were provided with the opportunity to design labels for their cubbies.
On Tuesday, we had our first Junior School Assembly. The teachers introduced themselves and Grade 5 students performed a beautiful song called- 'One small voice'.
Mindfulness- Clap Yoga
Collaboration with Grade 3 K to understand the Aga Khan Academy's Learner Profile attributes.
Student-led session during the Fun Zone lesson.
Understanding and connecting with learner profile attributes by providing real-life examples in groups.
We also watched a video of a sports person to relate our experiences and understanding of the different profiles discussed.
Then, students chose a learner profile they wanted to design to display in the classroom and worked in pairs.
We read two books this week- 'What were you thinking?' by Brian Smith and 'Decibella' by Julia Cook. These were read aloud to the students to introduce them to the voice levels that were to be used in class and outside. Also, we came to a consensus on the norms of collaboration to be followed in the class and school.
Base 10 blocks were provided to the students to represent numbers. The students worked in groups and could represent the numbers confidently. They also took the challenge of representing larger numbers.
Students were given a choice to illustrate their favourite drawings on the whiteboards.
They were then provided with an opportunity to write a story of their choice- either fiction or non-fiction. Each student has a different choice of the genre; hence this was done by the students individually.
During Hindi lessons, peer learning was evident as the students used different learning resources created by students in the past.
During the enrichment on Friday, students got to learn Table Tennis.
It couldn't be a better first week of school than this, as their smiles say it all. :)
