Vivacious Week-3

This week, students were engaged and indulged in learning the concept of counting and place value through varied strategies and manipulatives. Students counted in 10s, 20s, 25s, 100s, and 1000s. 
In UOI, students have been discussing the different factors that contribute to health and well-being. They used the KWHL chart to display their prior knowledge, understanding, and questions. The students were then guided to make a note of the resources they might need to find out and research their questions.  
During the week, students thought through and came up with their goals. They were guided with short-term and long-term goals through examples shared by their peers. Also, through a short video, we discussed what SMART goals are. This gave them some direction to set their goals. 
Student council members of the Junior School were introduced in the assembly on Tuesday.
Students practised solving problems related to counting with the help of manipulatives and applying their understanding using a number line and illustrations in their exercise books.  
Students enjoy the 'Fun Zone' session, where they display their interests and share them with their friends.
Students sorted pictures of healthy and unhealthy food and actions to create a collage and presented their understanding in groups.
Students were given word search and crosswords having the unit-related vocabulary. They were then guided to create sentences using those words. 
In the library, students get to explore books of their choice and read to themselves and their peers. They are also provided with a choice to borrow the books of their interest. 
Students were read aloud the book titled-'The Judgemental Flower' by Julia Cook during the SEL lesson this week.
After reading, students discussed the messages from the book and shared examples from their lives. Students taking action and helping their friends during recess. 
On Friday, students discussed in groups and shared what they knew about their country's independence and the national flag. They also sang the 'National Anthem' in the class. They were asked to inquire and research more about Independence Day during the long weekend. 
In groups, students read and listened to the Oxford Reading Tree books during their Guided Reading session. 
Students used colour-coded counters to demonstrate their understanding of the concept of place value in different groups. 
During the Hindi sessions, students participated in creating their Hindi corner and wrote the essential agreements in Hindi. 
The happy faces and their smiles say it all that they had a wonderful week!! :)
