Students have been showing a lot of enthusiasm to enter their reflections and expressions in their personal journals. They call it 'Dear Diary'.
During our UOI sessions, we watched a child-friendly video related to good touch and bad touch. This is related to our well-being and students were encouraged to create a 'Safe Circle' in which they will have people whom they trust completely. These people will be their go-to persons with whom they can share their feelings and pour their hearts out.
On Tuesday, we had a Junior School assembly marking the celebrations for Ganesh Chaturthi and Telugu Bhasha Dinotsavam.
We then consolidated our learning of the research for the food pyramid by sorting pictures in the groups of carbohydrates, fruits, vegetables, protein, dairy, and fats.
Thereafter, we completed the book read aloud during the SEL lesson last week and played a quiz to reflect on our learning from it.
For the student-led sessions, students signed up for the activities of their interest and worked in three groups. The activities conducted were 3D craft and drawing, and Easter eggs craft.
In Maths, we have started making number patterns and are learning the concept of one more, one less, ten more, ten less, hundred more, hundred less, thousand more, thousand less.
For the personal inquiry session, Rishaan expressed his interest of the multiverse and presented research findings through a presentation and a model that he created. Personal inquiries is an ongoing process and students will be continuing to find more about their passions and present the same eventually.
Students were also introduced to the concept of ‘Growth Mindset Approach’ which is a practice that we would like to build on and continue for the rest of the year. They had to discuss in pairs what growth mindset and fixed mindset mean to them with the help of a picture prompt. It was a collaborative session with all Grade 3 students.
Students were provided with DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) time on Friday where they could choose a book of their interest and read for pleasure.
Students were also provided with opportunities to practise the concept of making number patterns during the Maths sessions.
Students watched a video about ways in which we can maintain our health and well-being. They have been provided with a food journal template to reflect on their eating habits and maintain a balanced diet. This is to encourage them to practice mindful eating. We will continue the same in the school until Tuesday and reflect on their week’s food journal.
It was an awesome week for all of us with loads of learning and fun! :)
