Week-18 and the first term comes to an end

Being the last week of the term, it was a hectic one for all of us. With Musical practice, dress rehearsal, and two final shows back to back on two consecutive days.

While waiting for our performances and at other times during the day, we read a book titled- 'We All Celebrate' by Chitra Soundar and Jenny Bloomfield. This book encapsulated the various festivals and events we celebrate around the globe. It gave us new learnings about people and their cultures from different parts of the world. With this, the students could resonate as they celebrate different festivals and events. It also helped us to understand the meaning of Cultures and be internationally minded.
Students brought in a variety of artifacts for this unit which was a part of the artifacts corner for some time. This week, all students were given an opportunity to 'Show and Tell' about their artifact and express it's importance in their culture.
Thereafter, students were paired with their buddies to discuss their family cultures. They were guided to write about their own culture/ family culture and create a journal to share with their buddies. Some of the students found it challenging to write about their culture. They were guided to choose any three factors that shape culture and create questions to ask their family members. Students came up with some interesting questions to inquire.
For Maths, we have been practising the concept of subtraction and did a revision of other concepts through games.
It was hard for all of us to believe that half of Grade 3 is already done, and we are left with just the other half of the academic year. It has been a great journey with them all, and I look forward to another lovely term ahead! :)
