Thoughtful Thirty Third Week

"Reading is the gateway for children that makes all the other learning possible."- Barack Obama.

We at the Academy give immense importance to reading which leads to other learning. Students are indulged in reading the guided reading books in their groups. They also had their Literature Study during the week, where they read the novel- The One and Only Ivan.

For their Maths sessions, students displayed their prior knowledge of fractions with a discussion after a paper dance followed by centre activities. In the centres, they had to identify, sort and apply their understanding of the fractional notation of 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 1/6 and so on.

Assembly marking 'Earth Day' led by the student council representatives and action led by the entire Junior School students.
Action by Grade 3 students was making bird feeders, a dog food dispenser, and a poster to create awareness.
The process of taking an action began here, and glimpses of the products are displayed above.
Fractions Follow Along- In a centre, students had to draw and colour the functions according to the instructions provided in the group.
In another centre, students used manipulatives to identify the fractions on a number line.
Identifying fractions by shading the parts of a whole.
Identifying fractions with the parts that are already shaded.
Paper Dance prior to the introduction of fractions.
As a part of their action and understanding of the central idea for the unit on Peace and Conflict Resolution, students were introduced to a few strategies in order to resolve conflicts.
They are provided with Conflict Resolution Bingo with strategies that will help them resolve conflicts within themselves, their peers, and within the community.
Literature Circle Groups- Students discussed a chapter from the book- The One and Only Ivan. They chose their roles and collaborated within their groups.
Mindfulness session in the library with Ms. Karishma
Students exploring the Fraction Kits.
To inquire into the conflicts around the world, students were provided with some articles to read and reflect on the same.
For their enrichment activity, students had a session with Mr Subhesh on one of the performing arts- Drama.

During their Hindi lessons, students made a booklet on peace and conflict resolution. They expressed their understanding of peace and conflict through roleplays.

They participated in group activities and developed their social and communication skills.
