The summer sun is already soaring high, but this had no effect on the 'Overnight camping' we had last week. It was a fun and an exciting experience for Grade 3 students, providing them with an opportunity to connect with nature, develop new skills, and build lasting memories with their peers.
A variety of outdoor activities, such as team building activities, tent pitching, hiking, zip lining, campfire, slacklining, and rock climbing, were planned for them.
Over the week, students were engaged in preparing for their portfolios. They selected and clicked pictures of the learning pieces they would like to share during the student-led conference.
During the SEL lesson, students went outdoors for their mindfulness session. Ms. Karishma guided us to do a follow-up activity after coming back to the classroom.
For their writing lesson, students were engaged in creative writing. They were paired up in twos where one was required to describe a picture given and the other needed to draw. This not only builds the imagination of students but also helps in developing listening skills. The students were provided with an exemplar for them to be as descriptive as possible while giving details of the picture.
Last week, the festivals of Ugadi and Navroz were celebrated through an assembly.
In Maths, students are learning the concepts of shapes, lines and angles in Geometry. They used real-life objects and manipulatives to understand the concept.
Students in the library were paired to read books and participated in the follow-up activities.
Devaansh shared about his passion during the Fun Zone last week. Student-led sessions were also conducted during this week.
Students watched a video related to peace and conflict resolution. A picture prompt was also displayed to provoke their thinking.
Students contributed the following points about the picture prompt.
To understand the concepts of angles and shapes further, students watched relevant videos by 'Math Antics'.
In groups, students were given a problem to solve and come up with a solution to the same. They also identified if it was a problem related to self, community or world. The students also discussed the various reasons that lead to conflict.
During the reading sessions, students read their books in groups. They were guided to sequence the events of the books read by them.
Students used manipulatives during the Maths lessons.
Students participated in the Literature Circle activities during the Hindi lessons.
They listened to a story called Imaandaar Lakadhaara and sequenced the story. The learners also read Hindi library books with their peers. They watched a story called Neela Siyaar and drew their favourite scene and described it.

Hello Ms. Anjum! It was a fun filled camp and Rishaan enjoyed every minute! He loved learning the concept of parallel lines, perpendicular lines, intersecting lines, angles and polygons. He is also looking forward to understand the concepts of peace and conflict in depth. Thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your encouraging words for the camp. I am glad to know that Rishaan enjoys his all aspects of his school-life. :)
